Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your third party applications doesnt work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you might be able to fix these issues by clearing the applications cache / data.
WARNING! Clearing an applications data will result in the deletion of all your personal information stored within the app, such as credit card and login information, profiles, high scores, save files etc. As such, its recommended to clear the apps cache to avoid losing data.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Go to the All tab
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data and press OK to confirm
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone doesnt work properly or runs out of storage inexplicably, you can try fixing this by clearing the cache partition. This can have similar effects as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data.
- First youll need to turn off the device
- Next, press and hold Volume down
- Press Power and release the key after the phone vibrates
- From the hTC download mode menu, press Volume down to highlight reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Press Volume down to highlight Boot in Recovery Mode and press Power
- When an exclamation mark appears on a black screen, press and hold Power, then press and release Volume Up
- In the Android system recovery menu, press Volume down to highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power
- Once the cache is wiped, ensure Reboot system now is highlighted and press Power
NOTE: If wiping the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the device instead.
Reboot into Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues on your device and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. To reboot your phone into Safe Mode:
- Wake up the screen
- Press and hold Power
- From the Power options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to safe mode tap Restart
- Wait for your device to reboot. Once done, it should display a Safe Mode watermark in the lower-left area of the screen
- To remove an app, first access Settings
- Next, scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit safe mode, press and hold Power and tap Restart
