Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  4. If necessary, tap “Backup account”
  5. Select “Google account” > “Add account”
  6. Sign in with the Google account you want to use for the backup
  7. Enable “Back up my data” and “Backup account”

Back Up Contacts via an HTC or Google Account:

  1. Make sure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  3. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Backup and reset” > “Backup account”
  5. Select “Google Account” or “HTC account”
  6. If you want your phone to perform automatic daily backups over Wi-Fi, enable “Automatic backup”
  7. To back up your contacts manually tap “Back up now”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC 10 to your computer via USB
  2. At the prompt, turn on “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”, otherwise swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen and enable the option there
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on your phone and copy them
  5. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

  1. Connect the HTC 10 to your Mac via USB
  2. On the phone, swipe the “Notification” bar down and enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File transfer (MTP)”
  3. Open the File Finder on the Mac and locate the media files on the phone
  4. Copy the files and paste them in the desired backup location on the Mac
  5. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage by dragging its virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can”
  6. You can now safely disconnect the HTC 10 from the USB
