Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these issues by clearing the applications cache and / or data.
WARNING! By clearing an apps data you will delete all personal information stored within the app, including save files, settings, profiles, high scores, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the apps cache.
- Open the apps drawer on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK (read WARNING above)
Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party applications are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power while viewing the home screen
- In the Power Options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to safe mode, tap Restart
- Wait for the device to reboot and once done, you should see a Safe Mode label in the lower-left area of the home screen
- To uninstall an app, first go to Settings
- Next, scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Go to Downloaded and select the application you want to remove
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit safe mode, return to the home screen, press and hold Power, and power-cycle your device as you normally would
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably, or for whatever reason doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, you can try solving these problems by clearing the phones cache instead. Doing so can yield similar results to a factory reset, without losing any personal data.
- Ensure the phone is turned off
- Press and hold Volume Down
- Press and hold Power until the phone vibrates
- Once in the hTC download mode menu, release Volume down too
- Navigate the menu by pressing Volume down repeatedly, and highlight reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Press Volume down to highlight Boot to Recovery Mode
- Press Power
- In the Recovery menu, press Volume down to highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power
- After the cache is wiped, Reboot system now will be highlighted
- Press Power one last time to confirm and reboot your phone
