Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: if one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted, including credit card and login information, user profiles, high scores, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
  4. Select the desired app and access “Storage”
  5. Tap “Clear cache” > “Clear data”
  6. Tap “OK” to confirm

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can try clearing the phone’s cache partition first. This can yield similar results to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the device storage.

  1. Turn the phone OFF if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power” and tap “Volume Down” at the same time
  3. When the phone vibrates, release “Power”
  4. In the “hTC download menu”, release “Volume down” too
  5. To navigate the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “reboot to bootloader”
  6. Press “Power” to confirm
  7. At the HTC logo and “No Command” screen, press and hold “Power” and then tap “Volume Up”
  8. Release “Power” once in “Android Recovery”
  9. Press “Volume down” to navigate the recovery menu and highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  10. Press “Power” to confirm
  11. After the cache partition is cleared, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power”

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you can reboot your device in Safe Mode and remove the app from there. In Safe Mode all third party apps are disabled.
