NOTE: For instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media on the HTC U11, visit this thread.

Restore App Data:

  1. Make sure the HTC device is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  4. Tap “Restore from HTC Backup”
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts and select an account to complete the process

Restore Contacts from a Google Account:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts & sync”
  3. Sign in with the desired backup account and go to the account’s sync options
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the HTC phone to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups on the PC
  4. Copy and transfer the desired files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) from where they originate
  5. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC U11 to your PC via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Finder on the Mac and locate the media backup files
  4. Copy and transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the folder(s) from where the yoriginate
  5. Once the transfer is done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can” to eject it
  6. You can now safely disconnect the HTC device form the Mac
