Back Up App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  3. Tap “Backup account”
  4. Select an existing account or tap “Google Account” > “Add account”
  5. Sign in with your account and enable “Backup account” and “Back up my data”

Back Up Contacts on a Google or HTC Account:

  1. Make sure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  4. Select “HTC account” or “Google account”
  5. Enable “Automatic backup” to allow the device to perform daily automatic backups over Wi-Fi
  6. To manually back up contacts, make sure “Contacts” is enabled and tap “Back up now”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the HTC phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the Mac and use it to locate the media files on the phone storage
  4. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the Mac storage
  5. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can”
  6. You can safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
