Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Power > Power saver
- Tick the boxes associated with the power saving options you want to turn on
- Tap the Power saver switch and turn the feature ON
Disable the Phones Connectivity Features When Unused:
NOTE: you can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use in order to increase battery life in the long run. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth etc.
- Launch Settings
- Tap the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi switches to disable the features
- For GPS options, access Location
- Then tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile network sharing
- Turn Mobile Hotspot OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap Mobile data
- Go to Network mode
- Turn GSM Only ON
Decrease Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Display & Gestures
- Tap Brightness level
- If necessary, turn Adaptive brightness OFF
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For timeout options, go to Display & gestures > Screen timeout and select a lower value
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your apps/accounts sync settings to reduce sync and thus improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap Accounts & Sync
- Select an application to change the sync settings
- Select an account type and account and change the desired sync options
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such, by removing or disabling unused third party apps you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Phone
- Tap Apps and go to Downloaded
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable to turn the app OFF
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Phone
- Tap About > System updates
- Tap Check now
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install available updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
