NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files on the HTC device.

Restore App Data:

  1. Make sure the device is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  4. Tap “Restore from HTC Backup”
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to complete the process

Restore Contacts from an Account:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts & Sync”
  3. Sign in with the HTC or Google backup account used for the initial backup
  4. Make sure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the HTC device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups on the computer
  4. Copy and transfer the files back to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directory of origin
  5. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the Mac
  4. Locate the media file backups on the Mac storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files back to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin or the “Media” directory
  6. Once the transfer is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the trash can to eject it
  7. You can safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
