Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, doesn’t work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these issues by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, high scores, save files, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Phone”
  3. Tap “Apps” and select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: Of your device freezes, crashes, or doesn’t work as intended and you intend on factory resetting it, you can try clearing the cache partition instead. This can solve these issues without losing personal data stored on the phone memory.

  1. Turn the phone off
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. Once the phone vibrates, release “Power”
  4. At the “hTC download menu” release “Volume down” too
  5. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Reboot to bootloader”
  6. Press “Power” to confirm
  7. At the “No command” screen, press and hold “Power” and “Volume Up” at the same time
  8. Once in Recovery, release both keys
  9. Press “Volume down” to navigate the recovery menu and highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  10. Press “Power”
  11. Once done, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” to confirm

NOTE: If clearing the cache didn’t help, check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you’re having issues removing an app from the phone, you should be able to uninstall it from Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  2. In the “Power options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
  3. When prompted to “Reboot to safe mode” tap “Restart”
  4. One the phone finishes rebooting, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower area of the screen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings”
  6. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
  7. Access “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  8. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
  9. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “power” and reboot your phone as you would do normally
