Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, high scores, save files, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Phone
- Tap Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: Of your device freezes, crashes, or doesnt work as intended and you intend on factory resetting it, you can try clearing the cache partition instead. This can solve these issues without losing personal data stored on the phone memory.
- Turn the phone off
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- Once the phone vibrates, release Power
- At the hTC download menu release Volume down too
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight Reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to confirm
- At the No command screen, press and hold Power and Volume Up at the same time
- Once in Recovery, release both keys
- Press Volume down to navigate the recovery menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power
- Once done, highlight Reboot system now and press Power to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache didnt help, check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If youre having issues removing an app from the phone, you should be able to uninstall it from Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- In the Power options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to safe mode tap Restart
- One the phone finishes rebooting, a Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the lower area of the screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Access Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit Safe Mode, press and hold power and reboot your phone as you would do normally
