Back Up App Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Backup and reset”
  3. Tap “Backup account”
  4. Select an existing account or tap “Google account” > “Add account”
  5. Enable “Backup account” and “Back up my data”

Back Up Contacts on a Google or HTC Account:

  1. Make sure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Go to “Backup and reset”
  4. Select “HTC account” or “Google account”
  5. To allow your phone to perform automatic daily backups over Wi-Fi, enable “Automatic backup”
  6. To back up your contacts manually, ensure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Back up now”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the PC
  4. Navigate to the media files on the phone
  5. Copy the files and transfer them to the desired backup location on the PC storage
  6. Once done, safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Finder on the Mac
  4. Locate the media files on the phone
  5. Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the Mac
  6. Once the transfer completes, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the “trash can” to eject it
  7. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
