Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: if one of your apps doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal app data will be deleted, including login information, settings, save files etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Phone and tap Apps
- If necessary, switch to All apps
- Select the desired application and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Phone Cache Partition:
NOTE: When you wipe the cache partition you can solve various issues with your device, similar to a factory reset, without losing personal data from the phone.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Volume down then press and release power
- After the black screen with red and blue text, release the volume key
- In the menu, press Volume down repeatedly to highlight Reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to select he option
- In the bootloader menu, use Volume down to highlight Boot to Recovery Mode and press Power
- Once in Recovery, press volume down to highlight Wipe cache partition and press Power again to confirm
- At the Reboot system now highlight press Power
NOTE: If clearing the phones cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- In the pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to safe mode prompt, tap Restart to confirm. Once the phone finishes rebooting, it should display a Safe mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Go to Apps and switch to Downloaded if necessary
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- After the process completes, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone normally
