Enable and Manage Eco Mode (Battery Saving Mode):
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Tap Eco Mode and set the feature to Auto on
- Alternatively, disable Auto on and tap ON (always on)
- Furthermore, you can customize how Eco Mode works by tapping the Gear icon located in the upper-right corner. Doing so allows you to manage Wi-Fi, display brightness, auto-rotate and more
Lower Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Go to Display
- If necessary, turn off auto brightness
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left
- Return to Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Disable Connectivity When Not in Use:
NOTE: By turning off the phones connectivity features when they are not in use (such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth), you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Drag the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the V arrow to view all the tiles
- Tap the tiles associated with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth , Hotspot and Location (GPS) to turn off these connectivity options
Switch to 2G:
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Scroll to Wireless & Networks and tap More
- Tap Cellular networks > Preferred network type
- Select GSM only / 2G
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third party apps can affect your phones battery performance even when not in use, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Tap Apps
- Go to the Downloaded tab and select the desired app
- Tap Disable to turn off the app
- Tap Uninstall > OK to remove the app
Turn Off Background Data:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Data usage > Menu
- Tap Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your account(s) to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- First, open the apps drawer
- Next, go to Settings
- Tap Accounts > menu
- Disable Auto-sync data
- In addition, you can tap an account and disable more sync options as desired
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, thus its recommended to keep your OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to About phone and tap System updates
- Tap Check for updates
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
