Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings and access Display for more options
- Tap Advanced > Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value
Enable Battery Optimization:
- Open Settings
- Go to Battery > Battery optimization
- Select an app to optimize and optionally, you can tap Menu and enable Advanced optimization
Uninstall Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform background processes regularly and this can affect the devices battery life. By removing unused third-party apps, you can potentially improve battery life.
- Open Settings and go to Apps & Notifications
- Switch to See all apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can potentially improve battery life by disabling the devices connectivity features when they are not in use and thus avoiding unnecessary network scans.
- Drag the Status bar down
- Tap the Bluetooth and GPS (Location) quick toggles to disable the features
- Tap and hold the Wi-Fi toggle to disable the feature
- For more options, access Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & Tethering
- Tap Wi-Fi Hotspot and disable the feature
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and you should keep the OS updated at all times. To check for new updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to System and tap System updates
- Tap Check for updates
- If applicable follow the prompts to download and apply the update
