I just got the L1400 and if possible, can any of you guys help me out with these questions.

    1. How do i use infrared? What is it capable of doing? (ex. can i transfer mp3 ringtones, download/upload pictures, etc?) is it more favorable than a usb cable?

    2. People said in another thread how datapilot (http://www.datapilot.com/shop/lgl1400.htm) allows users to download and upload pictures from/onto their phone. Is this because the usb cord or the CD? Will other usb cables work?

    3. Is it possible to have multiple ringtones set. So specific ringtones will play when different people call me?

    4. Is there anyway to alter the screensaver on the outside screen?

    Thanks

    -jeff

    L1400

You can use the data pilot software with cable or infared, but a cable is alot easier. Also LG has software on their site that does this also. Another cool way to get your files on your phone is with Mobstorage.com, just upload your pics and jar files to their site and download with WAP.

    Ringtones

It is possible to have multiple ringtones set on the lg l1400, but not on people alone, you set them to caller groups. So go to Address book, then caller groups, then you seperate everyone into a specific group or the ones you want to have a specific ringtone, then you can assign different ringtones to each group. If you just want 1 person to have a specific ringtone and no one else then just put them in a group by themselves. On this phone you are able to download sound files of .mmf instead of mp3.

Oh yeah, there is no way to edit the screensaver on the outside display, except for the amount of time you see it.

    Hope this helps someone!

This is what the manual says:

Install the modem driver for sending and receiving the fax/data.
Install the network dial-up sofware supplied by your service provider or fax application program for a fax call on your PC.
Configure and activate an IrDA-compliant infrared port on your PC.
Activate the infrared feature on your phone; the little symbol appears on the right side at the bottom of the display.
Dial the network service number given to you by the service provider.
If there is no communication between your device and the IrDA compliant device within 30 seconds after activation, it is automatically deactivated.

This is what it says, hope it helps, i don't understand half of it
