I got a data cable for my phone, but I can not find any drivers or software for the AX380. I tried the downloads from mobilaction, but for some reason my phone just will not connect. I am not trying to do anything really fancy, I just want to transfer some ringtones that I downloaded, from my computer to my phone. I am not sure if the only way that I can transfer is by getting the memory card. I thought the phone itself had some memory on it, so I can put a couple of ringtones on the actual phone. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance for your help!

You need to have the right drivers for the USB cable. They need to be loaded on your computer. Once you have that, download a program called bitpim (it's free off the internet), load that on your system, start it, and follow the instructions. It will allow you to transfer the ringtones and just about everything else over to your phone, and also from your phone to your computer.

If you computer has Bluetooth, you need to set up a Bluetooth communication between your computer & the Wave. On your computer - go to START / PROGRAMS / ACCESSORIES / SYSTEM TOOLS / BLUETOOTH / BLUETOOTH INFORMATION EXCHANGER. I made a short cut on my computer so it would be easy to get to instead of doing the above.
For your WAVE - go MENU / SETTINGS (9) / BLUETOOTH (6) / MY VISBILITY (3) / VISIBLE (1). You have up to 1 minute to communicate to your computer.
Once you set up both the above - make a folder in your documents (I named mind "Bluetooth") and download ring tones in that folder.
Click on the BLUETOOTH INFORMATION EXCHANGER and it should take you to several different folders. Play around from there & you should be able to send ringtones to your phone.
I have a cable also & I find it is only good for re-charging the battery. I haven't find any free software off the web to download for my WAVE. If you have let me know.

I brought a data cable and the cd with the needed software for the lg wave but unfortunately the cd arrived nearly split in half so the cable is useless for the lg! I just find it more simple to put the ringtones on the microsd card & then transfer them to the phone which holds up to 300 files as far as the *sound memory* according to what my phone is displaying. So far I have 24, 30-second ringtones saved in my phone and still in the process of adding more Hope this helps!

Re: Help with LG AX380 Wave

Here is the way that works for me.

    1) Make sure you format your card.
    2) Insert card into pc.
    3) Open audio software that allows you to trim down the mp3s to 30 secs or less. The phone's internal audio memory is only about 5 mb. One full mp3 can easily take up all your memory. I use Wavepad Master's Edition, part of the Switch Audio Software. I looked at different software and this is the easiest to use, of course you will have to play with the software to understand how it works. 4) Open an existing mp3 file within the Wavepad. Trim it up (30 secs or less)to what part of the song you like. You will need to find the "normalize" button within audio software to make sure that sound is not recorded with too much distortion. The equalizer at the bottom should only show green not red. Red means sound will be distorted on phone.
"Save file as" and select mp3 extension from selection arrow. I made a folder on desktop in which to save ringtones or you can save it straight to your memory card under "Other Memory". Once you have saved it, open up the folder you save it to and change the file extension to ".mid". You may have to tell your pc to show file extensions. You are not just renaming the file, you are changing the extension from .mp3 to .mid.
    5) Take memory card from pc and insert into phone. Selet "menu" then "mymedia" then "audio" then "downloaded". The file you saved should be here. Select it then "options" then "move" then "yes" to move it into phone memory. You can then use the options button to set as a ringtone. Woohoo!!

It took me about a day and a half to work through this by myself. The most important step is changing the file extension. If you leave as .mp3 you can only play the sound and not set it as ringtone. I hope this helps.

Re: Help with LG AX380 Wave

Hi I read this thread yesterday and was also trying to figure out how to use the data cable for the 380.After calling tech support at LG and Telus to no avail trying to find the drivers for the data cable and being told that it was plug and play by both parties.I did some searching on the net and came across a driver for the LG VX8500 data cable.I installed the driver and started playing with the phone trying to get it to transfer data to my computer.
To make a long story a little shorter, here are the things that you need to get the data cable working on the AX380:
    1.data cable
    2.drivers for said cable
3.go in the menu on the phone
    4.navigate to settings
    5.navigate to others
    6.navigate to data setup
    7.navigate to pc connection
    8.select usb mass storage.
It also helps to get a micro sd card, thus increasing the storage capabilities of your phone.
9.go to my computer and locate the phone(should be identified as removable storage.
10.drag and drop or copy the selected files to your phone.
Voila data cable works and files are transfered as fast as if you were sending to another hard drive.
I hope this helps people out answer back if you have trouble finding the driver for the data cable,I'll see what I can do about getting it to you or having it posted here by an admin.
