Data Usage Management
Setting a Data Usage Limiter:
- While viewing the home screen, tap the "menu" key
- Select "System settings"
- Scroll to "Wireless & Networks" and tap "Mobile Data"
- Choose one of the following options:
- To enable a data usage limit:
- mark the "Limit mobile data usage" check box
- Drag the red bar up and down to set a limit to the desired amount
- To set a usage warning:
- Tap the orange bar and drag it to the desired amount
Note: It's always a good idea to set a data limiter that is slightly lower than your actual data allowance. The methods of measurement used by your phone and your carrier differ.
Viewing Data Usage by App:
- While on the home scree, press the "Menu" key
- Select "System settings"
- Tap "Mobile data"
- Optionally, you can tap and drag the blue bars on the graph in order to select a particular period of time of usage
- Scroll down to view the list of applications
- Select an application to view more details concerning data usage
Syncing Management
Enable / Disable Background Data:
- From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Select "System settings"
- Scroll down to "Wireless & Networks" and tap "Mobile data"
- Press the "Menu" button
- Mark or unmark the check box associated with "Restrict background data" to enable or disable the feature
- Press "OK" to confirm
Sync Apps & Accounts:
To add or edit apps and accounts to sync:
- While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Select "System settings"
- Under "Personal", tap "Account & sync"
- Perform one of the following:
- To set accounts to automatically sync, mark the "Auto-sync data" check box
- To manually sync individual accounts:
- Select the account that you wish to edit
- If necessary, adjust the settings, if any are available
- At the upper side of the screen, tap your email address or username
- Adjust any available settings if necessary
- Tap the "Menu" button on your device
- Tap "Sync now"
Network Management APN & Data Settings
Enabling Data Settings:
- While on the home screen, press the "menu" button
- Select "System settings"
- Under "Wireless & Networks", tap "Tethering & Networks"
- Tap "Mobile networks" under "Network Settings"
- Enable data by marking the "Data enabled" check box
- If roaming outside of T-Mobile's network, tap the "Data roaming" check box and then press "Yes" to confirm. (WARNING: roaming internationally will incur extra charges)
Selecting an APN:
- While on the home screen, press the "Menu" key
- Select "System settings" > "Tethering & Networks"
- Tap "Mobile networks" under "Network Settings"
- Press "Access point names"
- Select the desired access point name
Note: to set up a new APN, press the "menu" button and tap "New APN"
Restoring Default APN settings:
- From any home screen, press the "Menu" key
- Select "System settings" and tap "Tethering & Networks" under "Wireless & Networks"
- Scroll to and tap "Mobile networks"
- Tap "Access point names"
- Press the "Menu" button and tap "Reset to default"
- Confirm by pressing "Yes"
Selecting a Network Manually:
- While on the home screen, press the "Menu" key
- Select "System settings" > "Tethering & Networks" > "Mobile networks"
- Tap "Network operators" > "Search networks"
- Select the network that you wish to use
