NOTE: In case your phone doesn't work properly, crashes, freezes or causes other problems, then you might be able to fix these issues by factory resetting it.

WARNING! Master resetting the phone will remove all personal data stored on the internal memory, including contacts, apps, images, downloaded content, ringtones etc. All the settings will be restored to factory values.

Master Reset via Settings:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "Personal"
  3. Tap "Backup & reset" and mark the check boxes associated with "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore"
  4. Tap "Backup account"
  5. If necessary sign into, or create a Google backup account
  6. Tap "Factory data reset", and optionally in the "Warning" pop-up, mark the "Erase SD Card" too. NOTE: Doing so will format the SD card and all data on it will be removed
  7. Tap "Reset phone" > "Erase everything"
  8. Tap "OK"

Master Reset using Hardware Buttons (Recovery):

NOTE: If you are unable to master reset your phone using the method above then you can try factory resetting it from the recovery menu. It can be accessed by performing a series of key presses, as follows:

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Volume down" and "Power" buttons at the same time
  3. When the "LG" logo appears, release and re-hold the "Power" key
  4. When you see "Factory data reset" on the screen, release all hardware buttons
  5. From the menu, use "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "Yes"
  6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  7. At the "Erase all user data and restore default settings" message, use "Volume down" to highlight "Yes"
  8. Press "Power" to confirm and reset your phone

Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: Once you have factory reset your phone you should check for new software updates and make sure your device is up to date.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access the "Settings" menu
  3. Go to the "General" tab
  4. Swipe to and tap "About phone"
  5. Tap "Check now" and if an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to apply it on your phone
