Using iTunes:

NOTE: If you have iTunes installed on a computer with Internet access, you can use the app to sync the contacts on your iPhone with your Google account. Then you can sync the account data with the Nexus 5X to transfer your contacts.

  1. Connect the iPhone to your computer via USB
  2. Launch iTunes on the computer
  3. In iTunes, click the iPhone and access the “Info” tab
  4. Enable “Sync Contacts With” and select “Google Contacts” in the drop-down menu
  5. Sign in with your Google account. Alternatively, click “Configure” and select an account if applicable
  6. Click “Apply” and wait for the sync process to end
  7. Once done, register the same Google account on the Nexus 5X and allow it to sync contacts with the phone

Using iCloud:

NOTE: In case you have used the iCloud backup service on your iPhone prior to following this guide, the contacts on your iPhone should already be backed up on your iCloud account. By accessing the account on a computer with an Internet connection, you can export the contacts for Android use

  1. Open the Internet browser on the computer
  2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/ and sign in with your iCloud account
  3. Go to “Contacts” and select the contacts you want to share
  4. Click “Settings” > “Export vCard”
  5. After the vCard file is downloaded, import it to “Google Contacts”
  6. Alternatively, skip the step above and connect the Nexus 5X to your PC. Then, transfer the vCard file to the phone storage, and import its contents via “Contacts”

Using “My Contacts Backup”:

NOTE: The methods above require access to a computer with an active Internet connection. You can, however, use third party apps to transfer contacts from one phone to another without needing a computer. My Contacts Backup is an iOS app that backs up and transfer contacts via email.

  1. Open the App Store on the iPhone
  2. Install “My Contacts Backup”
  3. Tap “Backup”
  4. After the vCard backup file is created, tap “Email” to compose a new email containing the vCard file as an attachment
  5. Send the email to your own address
  6. Open the email on the Nexus 5X and download the attached vCard file
  7. Use the “Contacts” app on the Nexus device to import the vCard file

Using “Send Anywhere”:

NOTE: Another third party app you can use for transferring contacts is Send Anywhere. The app uses a P2P connection to transfer content, even cross-platform, without needing a computer.

  1. Visit the App Store and install “Send Anywhere” on the iPhone
  2. Go to the Play Store and install the app on the Nexus 5X
  3. Open the app on both devices
  4. Tap “Send” on the iPhone
  5. Select “Contacts” and choose the contacts you want to share
  6. Tap “Send” and select a transfer method. You can tap “Generate QR Code” on the iPhone and scan the code with the Nexus 5X’s camera, or tap “Receive” on the Nexus and enter the transfer code generated on the iPhone
