WARNING! A factory reset of your phone will delete all your personal data located on the devices internal storage. This includes media files, ringtones, downloaded content, apps, contacts etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected by the factory reset. For guides on how to back up and reset the LG X Max, visit this thread and this link respectively.
Factory Reset via the Settings Menu:
- Swipe the Notification bar down on the home screen
- Open the Settings menu
- Access the General tab
- Tap Backup & reset and clear or check the boxes associated with Automatic restore and Back up my data
- Tap Backup account, and if necessary, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in with, or create a Google backup account
- Tap Factory data reset
- Optionally, choose to Erase SD Card as well. WARNING! By enabling this option, all data located on the SD card will be deleted throughout the factory reset process
- Tap Reset Phone > Next when ready
- Tap Delete all > OK to confirm
Factory Reset via Android Recovery:
NOTE: In case you are unable to factory reset the device via Settings as described above, alternatively you can try resetting the device from the Android System Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.
- Ensure the phone is turned off
- Press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons at the same time
- When the LG logo appears, quickly released and re-hold Power
- At the Factory data reset screen, release all buttons
- Press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- When prompted with Erase all user data and restore default settings, press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press "Power again to confirm
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: After you have reset your device, its recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:
- Swipe the Status bar down while viewing the home screen
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab and scroll to, then tap About phone
- Tap Software info and check if a new update is available for download
- If necessary, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install any available updates. NOTE: This process will require you to restart your phone
