WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all personal data stored on the phones internal memory will be deleted. This includes ringtones and media files, downloaded content, contacts, applications etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Before you reset the device you can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for instructions on how to restore data. Remember that a factory reset will not affect data located on the SD and SIM cards.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open Settings
- If necessary, access the General tab
- Tap Backup & reset and check the Automatic restore and Back up my data check boxes
- Tap Backup account
- Select a Google account or follow the on-screen prompts to create or sign in with an account
- Tap Factory data reset and read the warning pop-up
- Choose whether to Erase SD card too. WARNING! By enabling this option, all data on the SD card will be deleted by the reset process
- Tap Reset phone > Next
- Lastly, tap Delete all > OK
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: In case you are unable to reset the phone from the settings menu, alternatively you can try resetting the device from the Android Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.
- Ensure the phone is powered off
- Press and hold Power and Volume Down at the same time
- At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold Power
- At the Factory data reset screen, release all buttons
- Press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm the highlighted option
- At the Erase all user data and restore default settings prompt, press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm and reset the device
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: Once you have factory reset your phone, its recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:
- Go to Settings
- Access the General tab if necessary
- Scroll to, and tap About phone > Software info
- Verify if a new update is available for download, and if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to download and install them (NOTE: This process will require a reboot)
