Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps doesnt work as intended, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache and/or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes saved games, login and credit card information, profiles etc. To avoid losing data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Tap Apps and go to All
- Select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt solve the problems, you can tap Clear data > Yes (check WARNING above)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and youre planning to factory reset your device, alternatively you can try wiping the phones cache partition. This can yield similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data.
- Open Settings
- Go to General
- Tap Storage
- After the phone finishes calculating data, tap Cached data > Yes
NOTE: If wiping the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to reset the device.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you can remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode all third party apps are disabled.
- On the home screen, press and hold Power
- At the pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Restart in Safe Mode, tap OK
- Once the phone restarts, a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower-left area of the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Access the General tab
- Tap Apps and swipe to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- After you have removed the app, you can exit Safe Mode by restarting the device as you would do normally
