WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all the personal information stored on the internal memory will be deleted. This includes contacts and media files, apps, ringtones etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values. Data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected by the reset.

NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up data before the factory reset, and this thread for a guide on how to restore data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Tab view” if necessary
  3. Go to the “General” tab and scroll to “Phone management”
  4. Tap “Backup & reset”
  5. Tick or clear the check boxes associated with “Automatic restore” and “Back up my data”
  6. Tap “Backup account” and select an account
  7. When ready, tap “Factory data reset”
  8. Optionally, select whether to “Erase SD card” as well
  9. When ready, tap “Reset phone”
  10. Enter your lockscreen PIN/password if necessary
  11. Tap “Delete all” > “Reset”

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you should be able to reset your device from the Android Recovery menu which can be accessed by performing the following.

  1. Turn the phone off if necessary
  2. Then, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold “Power”
  4. From the “Factory data reset” screen, release all the buttons
  5. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Yes”
  6. Press the “Power” button to confirm
  7. When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings” highlight “Yes”
  8. Press “Power” one last time to confirm
