WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes downloaded content, media files and ringtones, contacts, applications etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values, but data located on the SIM and SD cards won’t be affected.

NOTE: Before you reset the phone, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for instructions on restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Phone Management”
  3. Tap “Backup & Reset”
  4. Tick or clear the check boxes associated with “Automatic Restore” and “Back Up My Data”
  5. Tap “Backup account” and select the desired account
  6. Tap “Factory data reset” and optionally, select to “Erase SD Card” as well
  7. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password to proceed
  8. Tap “Delete all” > “Reset”

Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from Android Recovery. To boot in to Recovery:

  1. Turn the phone off if necessary
  2. Next press and hold “Power” and “Volume Down” at the same time
  3. At the LG screen, quickly release and re-press “Power”
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen release the buttons
  5. From Recovery, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings” highlight “Yes”
  8. Press “Power” one last time to confirm
