WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes ringtones and other media files, downloaded content, contacts, apps etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values. Data located on the SD and SIM cards won’t be affected by the reset.

NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up data, and this thread for a guide on how to restore dat.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Launch “Settings” and go to “Phone Management”
  2. Tap “Backup & Reset”
  3. Optionally, tick or clear the check boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
  4. Tap “Backup account”
  5. Select the desired account
  6. Tap “Factory data reset” and optionally choose whether to “Erase SD Card” as well
  7. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password to proceed
  8. Tap “Delete all” > “Reset”

Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or prevents you from resetting it via Settings, you should be able to reset the device from Android Recovery.

  1. Ensure the phone is powered off
  2. Press and hold “Volume down” and “Power” at the same time
  3. At the LG screen, quickly release and re-press “Power”
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen release the keys
  5. Then press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to select the option
  7. Highlight “Yes” when prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings”
  8. Press “Power” to confirm
