WARNING! When factory resetting the phone, all of your personal data stored on the phones internal memory will be deleted, including contacts, ringtones, media files, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all the settings will be restored to factory values but data located on the SIM and SD cards wont be affected.
NOTE: Before you reset the phone, you can check this thread for a guide on how to back up data and this thread on a guide for restoring data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Launch Settings
- Access Phone Management
- Tap Backup & Reset
- Tick or clear the Back up my data and Automatic Restore check boxes
- Go to Backup account and select the desired account
- Tap Factory data reset and optionally, select whether to Erase SD Card as well
- If your device is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password and tap Continue
- Tap Delete all > Reset to confirm
Factory Reset via Android Recovery:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it via Settings, you can try resetting the phone from the Android Recovery menu using hardware buttons.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- Release and quickly press Power on the LG screen
- Release the keys at the Factory data reset screen
- From the Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- When prompted to Erase all user data and restore defaults highlight Yes and press Power
