WARNING! By factory resetting your device, you will delete all of your personal data located on the phone’s internal memory. This includes custom ringtones and other media files, downloaded content, contacts etc. In addition, all of the settings will be restored to factory values but data located on the SD storage and SIM card won’t be affected.

NOTE: Before factory resetting the device, you can check this thread for instructions on backing up data, and this thread for restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Phone Management”
  3. Tap “Backup & Reset” and tick or clear the “Back up my data” and “Automatic Restore” check boxes
  4. Go to “Backup account”
  5. Select the desired account and tap “Factory data reset”
  6. Optionally, you can choose whether or not to “Erase SD Card”
  7. If your device is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password to proceed and tap “Continue”
  8. Tap “Delete all” > “Reset’ to confirm

Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it sing the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the device from Android Recovery using hardware buttons.

  1. Turn the phone OFF
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
  3. At the LG screen, release and quickly press “Power”
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all the keys
  5. Navigate the menu by pressing “Volume down” and highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore defaults” highlight “Yes”
  8. Press “Power” to confirm and reset the device
