I've had my Black V3 Razr for about 2 months now. About a month ago, I noticed that there were tiny white dots appearing on the screen. These are especially visible when I'm outside in the sun, as the sun illuminates the white dots. It is not very visible in darker situations when the backlight shines too brightly to see them. However, they are still quite annoying.

I've looked at other people's RAZRs, and some of them seem to have the same problem.

My suspicion is that they're caused by the keypad. I think that some of the silver from the keypad has been transfered to the screen. There are also faint outlines of some of the keys on the screen. I search the forum (albeit briefly) before posting, and found that some people think this is dust. I doubt that this much dust could've gotten into the phone without my knowing. It also won't clean off, not even with a slightly damp cloth.

That is my main problem. I have more questions; Is there any way to connect the RAZR to my PC other than using the Bluetooth capability? As far as I know, there is no way to connect any wires to the razr other than the power cable, but I have heard that there are ways.

Also, the videos that are on the Razr, when transfered to my PC, are in some sort of .3gp format. None of my players can play these videos, is there any way to accomplish this?

Final question, can I transfer short videos onto my cell? I want to transfer a 10-second clip of French soccer player Zinedine Zidane's headbutt today onto my cell, but I don't know if the cell will play it, or what format it has to be.

Sorry about so many questions, they've just been nagging in the back of my mind and I didn't want to create more than one thread.

Ok I had the exact same problem with my razr. Don't worry, you didnt do it, it was unpreventable. The Christmas shipment of razrs all had this problem, as well as some other shipments. Its actually dust that was trapped under the screen when the phone was made. I just called and sent mine back and got a free replacement.

As for the key outline, its probably caused by the rubber lines in the keys. I was able to wipe mine off with my PSP cleaning rag.

Alright, thank you. Who do I send it to? Motorola, or my local Cingular shop?

I'm not sure, since I bought mine online, and what I did was go to the Cingular website where I bought it and call them, and ask how to fix it, and that's when they told me it would be replaced free of charge.

Re: Scratched screen on RAZR and other questions

Ok, about your dirty screen. Becuase of the nature of the construction of the screen, dust may and will get under it, and you may and will see it. I have a piece of dust rite in the middle!!!! But, no worry, I love this idea Moto had for this. That cover, can be taken off, it's just exactly like a hard screen protector, and you can buy a new one for about 6 bucks. And you just peel the other one off using tweezers.. rite at about the edge of the silver on top where it says Motorola, and it comes cleanly off,and you just apply the new skin. So if ur screen gets scratched, put on a new cover, if it gets dirty, put on a new cover, gets dust under it, put on a new cover. It's ingenious, and you won't have to worry about bubbles, which I suffer from on my PDA and my iPod, and my diceased psp.
Live life to the fullest. Even if full is over 3.75 a gallon! (Wow, I wrote this two years ago, and that is when I was paying 2.35 a gallon, I now pay 3.50!)

Re: Scratched screen on RAZR and other questions

I use WriteRights. They are like a thin film that sticks to the screen with light adhesive/static charge. My V555 is terrible about leaving smudges on the screen from the keypad when the phone is closed. And after a period of time, said smudges will not come off. WriteRights can be purchased at Best Buy, look in the PDA section, as that's what they were originally meant for. They are nice, because the backing that comes on them has grids on it that are numbered. Just set it on the phone screen, figure out which grids you need to cut at to make it the same size as the screen, peel the backing off, and stick it to the phone. I think I paid like $15 for a 12 pack, and I can get 3 screen covers for my phone out of each sheet. Not a bad deal, IMHO.

Regarding the .3gp vids on the phone, try Xilisoft 3gp converter. It will convert the videos from .3gp to .avi or .mpg. It also has a built in mp3 converter. So you can also use Xilisoft to transfer the audio from a video into .wav or mp3. Hope that helps.
