i'm trying to figure out how to make a voice recorded message my ringtone.

i sent myself a message witht he desired ringtone, saved the file, the file is in my media gallery under sounds, but when i go to click menu on it it doesn't give me the option to 'set as ringtone' like all the other sounds, help please?
