I have a RAZR V3m on a Verizon plan. I installed Motorola Phone Tools 4.0 on my computer, ran Live Update and installed the updates. When I connect my phone to my pc, there is no Multimedia Studio. How / can I use the Multimedia Studio software?

Re: Problem with Motorola Phone Tools
You can't.
Had you searched the forums, you would have found about 30-40 posts about this very same issue.
Long and short, Verizon disables OBEX, which is what MPT requires in order to connect your phone to your PC to transfer ringtones and wallpapers. You can sync yoru calendar and address book as much as you want, but you will not be able to use Multimedia Studio.

Re: Problem with Motorola Phone Tools
I just received a Motorola W385. I have Motorola Phone Tools v5. It won't connect at all. I get a message saying connection is bad. I don't care about ringtones/wallpapers, I just want to get my address book. Any ideas?

Re: Problem with Motorola Phone Tools
Hi
Uninstall all Motorola Phone Tools
reinstall Version 4
Do cancel on this window:
"Setup has found a previous version of Motorola Phone Tools in this folder:
c`:Program Files\Motorola Phone Tools"
And continue the install
Have a good day

Re: Problem with Motorola Phone Tools
the best thing that anyone can do if they are on verizon or otherwise has issues using MPT is to follow what my signature says and look at the guides section.
Guides -> Verizon Wireless -> Content Management
this will give you some good knowledge of how to use FREE applications to get into the phone's file-system. Some firmwares have USB transfers disabled by default and this can be re-enabled through a seem edit. For that you should look at
Guides -> Verizon Wireless -> Programming -> How to perform a Seem edit/Seem edit list
the site may say "razr" but as long as the phone is a Motorola phone, all the applications *should* work. The only difference may be in application versions needed to properly connect. Drivers from motorola are all inclusive and do not need a specific one for each phone. Some folder locations for different things may be different between phones and firmwares as well, but its not hard to figure out what goes where when you look at it.
Just be careful when using p2k commander not to delete stock files if you don't know what they do or if they are in use by something. doing that will break the phone!!
