    I'm about to do a 2 year cingular contract, and I've decided on the razr phone (yes, I know many people hate it, so maybe I'm an idiot, but it's what i'm choosing)... so anyway, there's a few different razr variations to choose from... the v3i, the v3xx and others... or something or other, etc, and i was hoping someone could suggest which one I should get.

    I will only be paying for the minimum 450 rollover plan, with no extra bells and whistles, so that means I probably won't be surfing the net on the phone, although it would be very nice to have an mp3 player in it. I really don't care about the rebate differences, so which version of the razr should I get?

    I appreciate any help here, as I'm very confused about the several different versions of the razr that are offered by cingular. thanks!!

    The Razr is arguably the best selling cell phone in history. There is nothing wrong with this phone and Motorola wouldn't have sold a KA-zillion of them if there was and you are not an idiot for wanting one. The difference between the Razr and Razr with an MP3 player is really dictated by your tastes and needs -- if you want a MP3 player, then get that one.

    Another phone you may also want to consider is the Krzr which is brand new and will also be a best seller. The Razr, while a fine phone, is nearing the end of its run. Motorola will be introducing a new line to replace the Razr next year which is rumored to be called the Scapel. If you are going to be in your new phone for 2 years, you may want to choose the Krzr because it will probably have a longer product life than the Razr.

    Razr. it's been out for a long time. a lot of carriers are still pushing out new colors. simple phone. very thin. not that many features such as mp3, mp4. Internal memory size is low. some people love it, some people hate it. it is really all up to your own choice. Get the insurance for 5 dollars extra every month so you don't have to worry about breakin it.

    V3i. A little newer than regular v3, it supports mini SD memory card which gives you more space to store mp3, files like that on your phone. camera quality is better too. but phone is a phone, as long as you can receive and make calls. who cares?

    v3x. picture quality is better than both of the above. it is a little bigger and thicker as well. everything else is pretty much the same.

    cingular charges crazy tax on your bill though. 39.99 450 rollover, after tax, it would bring your bill up to 52 bux every month.
    T-mobile charges the least.

    Thanks for the info, I didn't know cingular taxes were that much. I actually currently am using t-mobile, but was going to switch to cingular because it seemed I couldn't get as good a deal on the phone unless I switched carriers and got a new contract. I'll go back and see what kind of upgrades t-mobile offers. I guess the other option would be to just purchase a razr phone but they seem pretty expensive at most places. My current phone is barely functional at this point.

    I just checked and I guess I'm getting a good deal with t-mobile; the 600 plan for $42 a month including taxes. My contract has run out and t-mobile now charges $50 for the same plan I guess. So basically I really just need a new phone and I'm not sure the what the most cost effective way to get a decent phone would be.

    You wouldn't be an idiot for getting a Razr. You would be for switching from TMo to Cingulbar. Other than noting that Cingulbar has the worst service and the highest prices, there really isn't much else to say about them.

    Friends don't let friends use Cingulbar.

    Wirelessfan has pretty summed it up, all i can do at this point is give you a comparison chart where you can view the difference in features between the current Razrs that are available:

    Razr comparison chart

    (oOO\ (||||)(||||) /OOo)

    Any mis*****ings or grammatical errors in the above statement are intentional;
    they are placed there for the enjoyment of those who like to point them out.

    Re: need help with razr/cingular options

    It seems like my t-mobile customers who have razrs are enjoyin more than my cingular customers. on top of that, t-mobile now has my faves, that you can add up to 5 people onto your list and talkin to them anytime is free. Great feature.

    When your contract is over, call t-mobile and tell them you want to cancel your service. then they will give you all these optioins and try to make you stay, pretend that you still do not like what they offer and then tell them you would stay if they could give you a razr for free with extendin your contract for 2 years. Trust Me, they will do it. I do this for my customers everytime.
