Share iPhone Contacts with Google via iTunes:

NOTE: Using iTunes on a computer connected to the Internet, you can sync your iPhone contacts with your Google account. Then you can sync the account data, including contacts, with your Motorola phone.

  1. Connect the iPhone to your computer using the Lightning cable
  2. Open iTunes on the computer and access the “Info” section
  3. Enable “Sync Contacts With” and select “Google Contacts” from the drop-down menu
  4. Sign in with your Google account, or click “Configure” and select an existing account
  5. Click “Apply” to begin the sync. Once done, switch to the Motorola Moto G5 and sign in with the same Google account used in iTunes
  6. Allow the account to sync contacts with your Android phone

Share iPhone Contacts from iCloud Backup:

NOTE: In case your iPhone contacts have been previously backed up to your iCloud account, you can access the account on a computer connected to the Internet, and export the contacts in a vCard file for Android use.

  1. Open the Internet browser on the computer
  2. Head down to https://www.icloud.com/
  3. Sign in with your iCloud account and go to “Contacts”
  4. Select the desired contacts and click “Settings” > “Export vCard”
  5. After the vCard has been downloaded on the computer, follow one of these steps:
    • Launch the Internet browser on the computer and import the vCard to “Google Contacts”, or:
    • Connect the Moto G5 to your computer via USB, copy the vCard to the phone storage, and use “Contacts” to import it

Using “My Contacts Backup”:

NOTE: While the two methods above require a computer connected to the Internet, alternatively you can transfer your iPhone contacts using third party application such as My Contacts Backup, for iOS. The app can back up and share iPhone contacts via email.

  1. Visit the App Store and install “Send Anywhere” on the iPhone
  2. Open the app and tap “Backup” to create a vCard file containing your iPhone contacts
  3. Once the vCard file is created, tap “Email” to compose a new mail
  4. Make sure the email contains the vCard attachment, and send it to your own address
  5. On the Motorola Moto G5, open the email and download the vCard attachment
  6. Import the vCard to your phonebook using “Contacts”

Using “Send Anywhere”:

NOTE: Send Anywhere is another third party app you can use for transferring contacts and other file types on Android and iOS. The app uses a peer-2-peer connection and can share files without requiring access to a computer.

  1. Visit the App Store and install “Send Anywhere” on the iPhone
  2. Go to the Google Play Store and install the same app on the Motorola device
  3. Launch the app on both smartphones
  4. On the iPhone, tap “Send” > “Contacts”
  5. Select the desired contacts to share and tap “Send”
  6. Lastly, select the desired transfer method, like “Generate QR Code” on the iPhone or “Receive” on the Motorola device. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
