Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: Incase one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, save files, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap Apps
- Ensure All Apps is selected at the top of the screen
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, you can tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If y our phone doesnt work as intended, crashes, freezes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and youre considering factory resetting the device, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phones cache partition.
- Firs turn the phone OFF if necessary
- Next, press and hold Volume Down and Power at the same time for at least 5 seconds
- After you gain access to Boot Mode Selection Menu, release both buttons
- In the menu, press Volume down to navigate to and highlight Recovery
- Press Volume Up to select the highlighted option
- At the No Command screen, press and release Volume Up and Power repeatedly until you gain access to the Android Recovery menu
- Once in Recovery, press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Once the cache partition is wiped, Reboot system now will be highlighted
- Press Power one last time to confirm and reboot your phone
NOTE: In case clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app on your phone that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled. To access Safe Mode:
- Press and hold Power while on the home screen
- Tap and hold Power Off in the pop-up menu
- When prompted to reboot to Safe Mode, tap OK and wait for the device to reboot (NOTE: once done, a Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- Open Settings and scroll to then tap Apps
- Ensure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, reboot your phone as you would do normally
