WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones and media files, apps, contacts, downloaded content etc. However, data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

NOTE: Before you factory reset your phone, you can check this thread for a guide on how to back up and restore data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset”
  4. In case your device is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password/pattern to proceed
  5. Tap “Reset phone” and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If you are unable to reset your phone via Settings, alternatively you can try resetting it from the Android System Recovery menu which can be accessed by performing the following steps:

  1. First ensure the phone is powered Off
  2. Then, press and hold “power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
  3. After roughly 5 seconds, release both keys to gain access to the “Boot Mode Selection” screen
  4. Press “Volume down” to navigate to and highlight “Recovery”
  5. Press “Volume Up” to select the highlighted option
  6. At the “No Command” screen, press and release “Power” and “Volume Up” repeatedly at the same time until you gain access to Android Recovery
  7. Once in Recovery, highlight “Wipe data/factory reset” using the volume rocker and press “Power”
  8. When prompted to delete “Userdata only “or “Userdata + personalized content”, select an option and press “Power”
  9. After the phone resets, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” to confirm

Update the OS:

NOTE: to check for new updates and install them if available:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “About phone” under “System”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the updates. NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot
