Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre trying to fix the issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including login information, user profiles, personalized settings, save files etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps and select All apps
- Tap the desired app and access Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, you can tap Clear data > OK instead (check the WARNING above)
Wipe the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your device crashes, freezes, doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data on the device.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Volume down and Power at the same time
- At the Boot Mode Selection menu, release the buttons
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Recovery
- Press Volume Up to select the highlighted option
- At the No Command screen, press and release Power and Volume Up at the same time
- In Recovery, press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option and highlight Reboot system now
- Press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps doesnt work as intended and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where al third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot to Safe Mode:
- Press and hold Power while on the home screen
- While in the Power Management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to Safe Mode prompt tap OK
- After the phone reboots, a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Go to Apps and switch to All apps if necessary
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit Safe Mode, reboot your phone as you would do normally
