Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Display”
  4. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You might improve battery life by avoiding unnecessary network scans and disabling connectivity features when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings”
  7. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  8. Go to “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Expand the “Wireless & Networks” menu
  3. Tap “mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps form the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Switch to “All apps” if necessary and tap the desired app
  4. Tap “Force Stop” or “Disable”
  5. Alternatively, to remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Personal’
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Select the desired account type and account
  5. Change the available settings to change the account’s sync settings as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “System updates”
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
