Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings and go to Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You might improve battery life by avoiding unnecessary network scans and disabling connectivity features when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings
- Go to Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Tethering & Portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Expand the Wireless & Networks menu
- Tap mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps form the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Switch to All apps if necessary and tap the desired app
- Tap Force Stop or Disable
- Alternatively, to remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Access Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select the desired account type and account
- Change the available settings to change the accounts sync settings as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Go to System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
