My phone was okay this morning. I didnt make any phone calls neither have operations on it.

Took it out in the arvo and screen showed "contact Service"...wtf?!

I tried to restart the phoen but same screen pop up.

however, before screen changed to CONTACT SERVICE, it was on normal display for like 2 secs, didnt even search for networks.

Keys aint working when Contact Service screen shows up. not even emergency call.....

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?!

Sounds like the phone is telling you there is a problem, with it or your service provider. Time to do as the message suggests and call your cellular company, to see what the message could mean.

It is amazing what rebooting a phone can do. Try taking the battery out for a minute or so. Then put it back in and turn it on. If that doesn't fix it, then yes, call the SP. Also, if it's the phone it might be under a manufacturer's warrenty.

I got an reply from Nokia as follow: "
With regard to your enquiry, we would like to inform you that "Contact Service" simply means that an error has occurred with one of the applications in the phone. This is similar to how we sometimes get a message on our PC saying ''error has occurred, please reboot''. Unfortunately, the ''reboot'' option is not available on a mobile phone. Therefore, it would be best that you take your phone into an authorised service center (ASC) and the technicians there will definitely be able to assist you. Please take your proof of purchase or your warranty card with you when you go to the ASC."

Anyone know how do I reboot the phone from home? coz my phone has no warrenty left.

Why not send it in? They will find out what exactly is wrong with the phone and then give you the option of having it fixed or replaced with a refurbished model (normally of the same model). At which time you can say, no that's ok don't fixed it send it back to me or yes fixed it that seems like a reasonable price to pay to fix the phone.

Cingular suggests this, not sure if will work if you have another provider, but can't hurt, I imagine: try this: #002#,send, wait moment for message if any and note, power phone off, power back on, give phone a moment to reset.

Contact Service can be due to Hardware as well as Software.

If rebooting doesn't work, you must bring it to the Service Centre.

It can be due to software corruption as well as Memory chip failure.

Next time that happens try pulling the battery and sim card out.
    Wait about 5 minutes .
    Put them back in.
Then turn you phone back on.
    Hope this helps..
    Thanks
