    Nokia released the news that its plan to purchase Symbian will be close to the end of this year. Nokia also announced that they intend to purchase Symbian from the other stakeholders, which included companies such as Sony Ericsson and Motorola, for $340 million in June. Nokia wants to make the Symbian software free to developers and handset makers.

    nokia phones have /long been the most indestructable phones on the market ( manufactured obsolescence vs. satisfied / repeat customers ...... look for future thread ) its about time they upgraded the outdated os theyve been sticking in our toys

    The good thing is Symbian will finally become open source like Android, and hopefully we'll see even more apps.

    This will be great when the N97 comes out and it competes with the Iphone.
