Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Press Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings and tap Location for more GPS options
- Tap Mode > Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and turn the feature OFF
Use 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can temporarily switch to 2G networks to conserve battery life until the next recharge.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you can disable or remove unused third party apps from the phone to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired app and tap Force Stop to disable the app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select the desired account
- Change the available sync settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such, its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if an update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to complete the process. NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot
