Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options, go to Settings
- Access Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- To select a different timeout duration, access Sleep
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable these features
- Launch Settings for additional options
- Go to Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- For hotspot options, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & mobile hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Under Wireless & Networks tap More
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Account Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can decrease the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts to improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps can perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to improve battery life.
- Access Settings
- Go to Apps
- Switch to All apps or Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Disable / Force stop to disable the app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update
