Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Location Bluetooth and Wi-Fi quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- Access Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Turn Off Tethering & mobile hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings and go to Apps
- If necessary, switch to Downloaded or All apps
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life so its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Launch Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update
