Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings and access Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, access Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Bluetooth Wi-Fi and Location quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings and go to Location for GPS options
- Tap mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & mobile hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps and if necessary, switch to All apps or Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone > System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update
