Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” and access “Display”
  4. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options, access “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth” “Wi-Fi” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Location” for GPS options
  4. Tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Disable “Tethering & mobile hotspot”

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings’
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps” and if necessary, switch to “All apps” or “Downloaded”
  3. Select the desired app
  4. To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone” > “System updates”
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update
