Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Access “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout settings, go to “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn your phone’s connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings’
  4. Access “Location” for GPS options
  5. Tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings”
  7. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  8. Disable “Tethering & mobile hotspot”

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you might improve battery life in the long run by removing or disabling unused third-party apps.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Switch to “All apps” or “Downloaded”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop’
  6. To remove the app, tap “uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type
  4. Tap the desired account
  5. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update
