Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings for more options
- Access Display and optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout settings, go to Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn your phones connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings
- Access Location for GPS options
- Tap mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & mobile hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Tap preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you might improve battery life in the long run by removing or disabling unused third-party apps.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Switch to All apps or Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Launch Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update
