Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Battery
- Tap menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings and access Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep for timeout options
- Select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn your connectivity features off when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings
- Access Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- For hotspot options, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & networks
- Access Mobile network > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or remove unused third-party apps from the phone, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- If necessary, switch to All apps in the drop-down menu
- Then select the desired application
- To turn the app off, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available sync settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can offer battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times.
- Launch Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require at least one reboot)
