I manage 100 Nextel phones for our I.T. dept and my manager would like to move us to the 7520 Blackberry. I am looking for any info like white papers or something to show senior management the effectiveness of having portable email and such. Anyone have anything?

    Thanks in advance,

    Joe

I have a friend who works for a large Fortune 500 company and who has become a "CrackBerry" addict because of the benefits of secure email. He's quite sold on Blackberry because of the email functions.

One definite advantage of moving your 100 staff members away from Nextel is the benefit you'll achieve by not having your staff annoy customers and everyone else where ever they go by not doing that Nextel "beep-beep-beep" thing anymore that is soooooooooo annoying to everyone around them.

I was in the shopping mall the other day and this woman was walking all over "beep-beep-beeping" and there were at least 10 of us who wanted to take her Nextel phone and throw it into the ocean.

It's worth noting that the 8800 (Blackberry's newest offering) offers PTT (actually, the 8100 does also). In fact, that's one of the reasons my company's looking at the 8800.

As noted, many of us consider PTT to be the bane of a professional work environment ("BEEP BEEP Roy? Roy are you there?"). I've gone through a migration to PTT, and I was lucky enough to be part of the group that was senior enough to say "no, we don't want to use it" and stop using it. It's horrible.
