Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings for more options
- Access Display
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Return to Settings
- Go to Location and tap mode
- Enable Battery saving and return to Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot
- Turn the features Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type and enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life.
- Open Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Access Apps
- Go to All apps and select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone and tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the prompts to download and install available updates. Keep in mind that the update process will require at least one reboot
