Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
hey dalton. I have a problem with my drm packager. Mine use to work but now the drm packager doesn't show any words in the boxes any more. The boxes in the drm packager are blank. I tried uninstalling and installing it again but it doesn't work. Do you know what's the problem?
The information to the right says:
Profile Name: (blank)
Profile version: 1.0
Drm Method: (blank)
Encoding type: (blank)
Drm subfolder used: yes
Embedded name used: no
User defined bondary: not used
File list name: untitled.Ist
Generate download descriptors: no
would this help?
any suggestions?

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
Wow, it is a huge hassle trying to use a Mp3 ringtone for Rogers. I have been a Rogers customer for many years now and have never bought a phone from them or let alone sign up for a contract thats more than 1 year. I buy an unlocked phone from ebay or elsewhere and have had no problems so far. The prices are very reasonable and you always get phones that are tricked out and top of the line. Also, downloading ringtones is a joke. I have the Samsung D900 (bought it in Richmond) and the phone came with a cd program. I can cut my own mp3 songs and then transfer it to my phone. Give ebay a try, lots of crazy deals for new released phones.

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
It does not allow me to transfer the file to Phone Memory, neither does it take the file as a music file.It just has it on the memory stick and I can't do anything with it. What am I doing wrong?

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
tried it on a motorola phone and it did not work... I got the motokrzr k1, motorola phone tools does not work, but one can access the memory card through windows explorer and then transfer....
when I transfer the file nothing appears, like it doesn't recognize a .dm file...
I tried the Imserba Wap Uploader to see if it would if I downloaded it, but I was unable to deliver it to my phone.
any suggestions ... I am runnning out of time... I have 10 days to solve this problem or return the phone.

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
This did not work for me. I converted the mp3 with the DRM and did everything as mentioned, then when I transferred the file with the Filemanager as mentioned there was no pop-up on the phone indiciated that I transferred as a music file nor did it give me the option to install the new file to the music folder. What am I missing here? P.S. when I view the file with the Filemanager (on my phone not on pc) the file has a key icon, but there is a line or strike running through it. Plus the icon is a text icon and not an MP3 icon like the other music files already on the phone provided by rogers.
So, whats going on here?

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
Using the DRM and converting the mp3 as separate delivery recognizes the file as mp3 on the phone, however I get the notification that the file must be UNLOCKED before I use it. I click YES to UNLOCK the file, however Im taken to page that no longer exists...

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
I found that I can use my MP3 as a ringtone if I convert the MP3 into a WAV file first. To do this, just download an MP3 to WAV converter and VOILA!! Works like a charm.

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
OK i figured it out and its letting me copy it onto the fone. the problem was that i needed to have my cellphone explorer installed. however wen it was done downloading and it was in phone memory i could still not use it as a ringtone. wen i went to status there was a button that said unlock but wen i pressed it it said currently unavailable. please helppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
Dalton, I've downloaded the sony ericson DRM Packager and followed your instructions and everything works fine until I try to send the .dm file to my phone (brand new nokia 5310) it doesnt show up on the phone. I've tried sending it directly to the ringtones folder with no better results.
I'm not sure if it matters but I'm sending the file via bluetooth, and consequently I can see that the file IS present on the phone, but it only shows up on my bluetooth manager...
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
Well this is the last thing im gonna try, "I know how to change it in like 1 try, download WavePad off google, then find your song, install it, open it, File>Open>your song name then find the part of the song you want, when yoru done, click Start New or something liek that, the first button to the left above the music, then click ok to everything and paste your song, after that save it and bam uplaod it to your phone on file transfer mode and it works" if that dont work im gnna do one last thing i dnt wnna do which is flash my fone and i dnt even think ill do thtso this is it te last thing im gnna test. Good Luck Guys, i hope u hve much more success than i did
