Managing the Screen Lock:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap the "Menu" button and tap "Settings"
  2. Select "Lock screen"
  3. Tap "Screen lock" to access or enable one of the following options:

    • Swipe: if enabled, you can unlock your device by swiping a finger across the screen
    • Face unlock: allows you to unlock your phone by looking at the screen (secondary camera)
    • Pattern: if enabled, you will unlock your phone by drawing a customized pattern on the screen
    • PIN: allows you to unlock your phone by entering a numeric PIN
    • Password: if enabled, you will need to enter an alphanumeric, custom password to unlock your device
    • None: disables all the lock screen settings, and returns the lock screen to "Swipe" mode

Customizing the Lock Screen:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Select "Lock screen"
  4. Tap "Lock screen options" to access the following options:

    • Shortcuts
    • Information ticker
    • Clock
    • Weather

  5. Tap the checkboxes or sliders associated with these features in order to enable or disable them from the lock screen


Encryption Management

Note: As an extra layer of security, you can encrypt the contents on your device or your external SD card in order to require a password each time you turn on your phone or access the card. The process of encrypting your device / SD can take an hour or more to complete. Make sure that you have a fully charged battery, and a charger in vicinity. WARNING! Interrupting the encryption process may result in loss of data.

Encrypting the Device:

  1. From the home screen, tap the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Security"
  3. Tap "Encrypt device" to start the encryption. Follow the on-screen prompts

Encrypting the SD Card:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Security"
  3. Tap "Encrypt external SD card" to start the encryption process, and follow the on-screen prompts

Credential Storage

Installing Trusted Credentials:

You can install credentials from a memory card, and use the Credential storage settings to allow certain applications to access these secure certificates as well as other credentials:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Menu" and go to "Settings"
  2. Tap "Security"
  3. Tap "Trusted credentials" to view the installed certificates

Installing Encrypted Certificates From Device Storage:

  1. From the home screen, tap the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Security"
  3. Tap "Install from device storage" and then choose the certificate that you wish to install
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts

Clearing Credentials:

To clear stored credential and to reset the password:

  1. Press "Menu" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" > "Security"
  3. Tap "Clear credentials" and follow the on-screen prompts
