Clearing the Cache Partition:

Assuming that your smartphone is not working as it should, it crashes or freezes, then you're probably considering the possibility of trying and fixing these issues by applying a factory reset. Nevertheless, master resetting a smartphone will result in the deletion of personal data located on the phone's internal memory. To avoid this, you can try and fix these issues by clearing the cache partition first. Unlike a factory reset, a cache wipe will not delete personal data. To wipe the partition on the Galaxy Light:

  1. Turn off the smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Home", "Power" and "Volume Up" buttons at the same time
  3. After the phone vibrates, release the "Power" button but keep holding the other two keys
  4. After the "Android System Recover" screen appears, release the "Home" and "Volume Up" buttons as well
  5. Using the "Volume down" key, navigate to and highlight "wipe cache partition"
  6. Press the "Power" button to select the highlighted option
  7. Once the cache is wiped, press "Power" again to reboot your device in normal mode

NOTE: If clearing the cache hasn't helped fixing the issues, then you might have to apply a master reset. To learn how to factory reset your Samsung Galaxy Light, follow this link for a full guide.

Safe Mode

Rebooting your smartphone in safe mode can solve a lot of issues, especially if you've installed a malicious application that prevents you from uninstalling it. In safe mode, all third party applications are disabled, so in theory, you should be able to remove any 3rd party app, as it isn't active.

Enabling Safe Mode:

  1. With the smartphone turned off, press and hold the "Power" button
  2. As soon as the "Samsung" logo appears, release the "Power" key but immediately press and hold "Volume down" instead
  3. Keep holding the "Volume down" button until the phone restarts and the lock screen appears
  4. Once rebooted, your smartphone should display a "Safe mode" label at the lower-left corner of the screen

Uninstalling an Application and Exiting Safe Mode:

  1. While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings" and access the "More" tab
  3. Tap "Application manager" and swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
  4. Select the desired application and tap "Uninstall"
  5. Press "OK" to confirm
  6. To exit safe mode, press and hold the "Power" button and tap "Restart". Your smartphone will reboot in normal mode
