Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Press the "Menu" button while on a home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "My device" tab
  4. Tap the "ON / OFF" switch associated with "Power saving mode" to enable the feature
  5. Tap "Power saving mode" and mark the check boxes next to the features that you want the saver mode to take advantage of, such as "CPU power saving" or "Screen power saving"

Lowering the Screen Timeout Duration and Brightness:

A smartphone's display is one of the components that draw a lot of energy from the battery. Decreasing the brightness and lowering the timeout can increase battery life.

  1. While on a home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to "My device"
  3. Tap "Display" > "Brightness"
  4. Drag the slider to the left, to decrease the brightness level
  5. Tap "OK" > "Screen timeout"
  6. Select a lower timeout value, such as "15 seconds"

Disabling a Live Wallpaper:

Live wallpapers usually require a lot of processing power to work properly, and this can greatly impact your smartphone's battery life. That said, it's highly advised that you use "static" wallpapers if you want better battery results.

  1. From the home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "Set wallpaper" and select "Home screen"
  3. Choose wither "Gallery" or "Wallpaper"
  4. If you've selected "Gallery", browse for the desired image, resize, crop and drag it and then tap "Done". For standard wallpapers, tap the desired one and tap "Set wallpaper"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth":

A smartphone's connectivity features can have a great impact on the device's battery life. As such, it's highly recommended that you disable these features when not in use. For instance, when you're not connected to a Wi-Fi network, leaving Wi-Fi enable will make your device scan for networks constantly. This will drain the battery faster.

  1. Press the "Menu" key from the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "Connections" tab
  4. Tap "More networks" > "Tethering & Mobile Hotspot"
  5. Tap the switch next to Mobile Hotspot and set it to "OFF"
  6. Return to the home screen and drag the "Status" bar down
  7. Tap the icons associated with "Wi-Fi", "GPS" and "Bluetooth" to disable these features. NOTE: a grayed out icon means the option is turned off

Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. From a home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to "Connections"
  3. Tap "More networks" > "Mobile networks" > "Network mode"
  4. To switch to 2G, tap "GSM only"
  5. Tap "LTE / GSM / WCDMA (auto connect)" or "GSM / WCDMA (auto connect)" to return to 4G

Changing the Application Sync Settings:

  1. Press "Menu" from the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Go to the "Accounts" tab
  4. Under "My accounts", select an account type, such as Google
  5. Adjust the sync settings for the account type by tapping a sync category and clearing check boxes
  6. For more sync options, tap your "user name" or "email address" at the top of the screen

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Tap "Menu" from a home screen and select "Settings"
  2. Go to the "Connections" tab and select "Data usage"
  3. Press the "Menu" button and mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Tap the "More" tab and tap "Application manager"
  3. Swipe to the "Downloaded" screen and select an application
  4. To turn off the app, tap "Disable". To completely remove the app, tap "Uninstall" and press "OK"

Applying the Latest Software Version:

NOTE: Performing the steps below can increase your smartphone's battery life only if a new software update is available, which contains improvements to battery life, or certain fixes. Otherwise, if there's no update available then following the steps below will have no effect.

  1. Press the "Menu" key while on a home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to "More"
  3. Tap "About device" > "Software update"
  4. If a new update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it
